Topic is a chatroom by subject. You can set the Topic to Public/Private accordingly.
On the other hand, a Chat is where you can talk to other members freely without specific subjects.

<Pubic Topic>
All members can participate in Public Topics. All Public Topics will be listed once you browse other public topics.

<Private Topic>
Private Topic cannot be searched and only invited members are eligible to participate.
A lock icon will appear next to the Private Topic’s name.
All files and messages shared on Private Topic will be accessible by the participating members only.

* However, if you share a file to other Public Topic, it will be switched to an public file.
Also, Team Admin cannot search or open uninvited public Topic.

*Once you choose either Public/Private for the Topic, you cannot alter the Topic privacy settings afterwards. Please set up the Topic carefully.

Associates cannot create a Chat and can participate only through other members’ invitations.
All files and messages will not be shown to others who are not involved in the chat.
